Who is this article for?
In many clinics, the claims are submitted by the reception, an assistant or an administrator rather than by the practitioner. This article explains what is needed for someone to submit a claim on behalf of a practitioner.
1What the practitioner sets up once
The claim is always sent with the TELUS account of the practitioner of the invoice, never with the account of the person who clicks. The practitioner must therefore fill in their own TELUS Health eClaims tab in their personal settings (username, password, TELUS provider ID, license number, role, licensing body): please see the article titled "How to set up TELUS Health eClaims for practitioners, clients, appointment types and products".
An administrator cannot fill in this tab for the practitioner. If it is incomplete, the claim is blocked with a message naming the practitioner.
2What the person who submits needs
- Access to invoicing and the right to edit the invoice (for example, an administrator, or a user allowed to see the other practitioners' data).
- Nothing else: no TELUS account of their own is needed. TELUS receives the name of the person who entered the claim, in addition to the practitioner.
3Submit the claim
- Check that the Practitioner of the invoice is the one who gave the care.
- Click + Create claim in the TELUS Health eClaims - Direct Billing card and submit as usual: please see the article titled "How to submit a claim through TELUS Health eClaims".
Good to know
- Role of the practitioner — the services allowed depend on the role of the practitioner of the invoice, not on the person who submits.
- Following up — the Insurance claims dashboard lets the team follow the claims of all practitioners, for users allowed to see their data: please see the article titled "How to follow your claims in the Insurance claims dashboard".
